Packing for the French Riviera

With the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in full swing, I’ve been thinking how downright chic the people who live and vacation in the French Riviera always are. There is one individual though that immediately comes to mind when I think about fashion in the region and that is Monaco’s princess, Grace Kelly. She was the embodiment of Riviera-chic and when I was planning what items to pack for the south of France last summer I kept thinking about Princess Grace in all her glamour in the 1955 film To Catch a Thief. It’s hard to forget the scene of her in that yellow swimsuit and white sunglasses on the beach of Hotel Carlton in Cannes!

Many of the items I packed for the French Riviera are included in today’s Riviera-style packing list, while others I recently discovered and would be on my list of items to take if I was going back this year.

Channel Monaco’s princess in a gorgeous hat like this and these white rimmed Chanel sunglasses. I took this striped bikini top and bottom set that I purchased from ASOS. Stripes are a must in The Riviera so be sure to pack a dress like this. I swear half of what I packed for Europe was navy and white! I recently came across these neutral lace-up sandals and this clutch that just scream Riviera-chic. Don’t forget to pack your favourite French perfume. I love this fragrance. And a packing list for the French Riviera would not be complete without some bling. How stunning are these Kenneth Jay Lane earrings?!

Tonight I am heading to PROM with a group of my closest friends. In case your wondering, this isn’t your typical high school prom (I graduated from that chapter of my life 12 years ago!)

This prom is an event held each year at the Royal Ontario Museum and is attended by members of the ROM’s Young Patron Circle (YPC) and other young Toronto professionals. This year’s event marks a special milestone as it is the 10th-and final-ROM PROM. Inspired by the exhibition Douglas Coupland: everywhere is anywhere is anything is everything, PROM X is sure to not disappoint. If you’re not familiar with Douglas Coupland, he is a well-known Canadian contemporary artist. Just click here to get inspired. PROM X is expected to be one heck of a party with explosions of colour, live entertainment and dancing.

If you know me personally or have been following Style Parade, you know that the part I love the most about attending events is putting together glamorous outfits inspired by the party theme. Remember my blog posts about Motionball, Boobyball and Operanation?

Here are two glamorous looks I created for PROM X. Which is your favourite? Follow me on Instagram to find out which outfit I wear this evening!
